Do you travel like you’re young at heart?
That is, do you get from one place to another like a Millennial, making use of your smart phone or tablet to find the best way to reach your destination, whether it’s a car, train or bus?American Public Transportation Association now has a test for you to find out: “How Millennial are Your Local Travel Habits?”
Millennials, APTA says, “with their relative propensity for an urban lifestyle, dexterity with technology, and their coming of age during economically constrained times, will drive future trends.”
The group, those born between 1982 and 2003, is bringing change to transit, as I wrote back in January. Now my colleague Theresa Juva-Brown has taken it a step further, looking at how Metro-North and other transit riders use social media, like Twitter, to communicate, find information about delays, and vent when things go wrong.
By the way, I took the APTA test. Apparently, I travel like I was born in 1990. In reality, it was, well, somewhat earlier. But I check for traffic and delays on my iPhone, I peruse social media when I’m on the trains and I have downloaded Metro-North’s TrainTime app.
All of that – according to the test – makes me a twenty-something. Again.
I’ll take it.
